ABOUT THE ARTIST
Roberta Gottesman is a visual artist in the Washington, DC region. After careers as a lawyer and author, Roberta has been a full-time artist since 1996. Roberta studied at the Art League School of Alexandria, the Art Students League of New York, the Cape Cod School of Impressionist Art, and with artist Rob Vanderzee in Alexandria, VA. Roberta has been a frequent exhibitor at the Columbia Pike Artist Studio, the Alex Gallery in Washington, DC, and the Vanderzee Art Gallery in Alexandria, VA. Her unique technique of working paint with her fingers before using her brushes allows her to impart the energy and spirit of her subjects directly onto the canvas.
Roberta has used her art to raise funds for a wide range of charities, including Mary’s Center, The Theatre Lab, and INMED Partnerships for Children. Her current initiative, Pets and their Peeps, is a collaboration with animal shelters and rescue organizations. Roberta custom paints portraits of rescue animals and their owners. Organizations can auction or sell the portraits to raise funds. Not coincidentally, Roberta is the proud mom of rescue beagle Daisy, a source of inspiration for her charity work.
